I then started sketching a different idea where they were held by a cord running down the middle with restrictions being made by exterior parts.

I made a solid works model of this design. However it was a bad idea and while doing it in solid works I saw that it wouldn't wok as the pieces would hit each other so again a did some more sketches some more research and came up with a design that ended up being my final design.

It was only a rough sketch as straight after this I was on solid works making my models.
