Ok for this project I shave decided to stop procrastinating and start blogging rather than how I have been doing it before, So today we are doing moulds of our fingers so while I wait for my turn Im going to start by selecting a few precident images. I want my design to be quite ornate on the outside and I am t6hinking of incoporating tool imagery somehow. Could be cool.
I am very fond of the ring of eyes and the almost gear loook that the lateralus (tool album) symbol has.

project two
Now I came to start on my final design. It followed on from my last
idea but I downsized it and trimmed of what didnt need to be there.I printed a practice model to see if it worked and as a mdel it worked as I wanted it too, however the elastic I chose to work as a ligament was too thick, too chunky and made the model quite ugly. I then refined my idea and came up with what I have below
This became My final model so I printed it cleaned it up, put it all together and then photographed it

project 2
At first I had each vertibrae as a disc but it was quite chunky and it would have used a lot of materiel and been quite expensive.
The aesthetics of my model came naturally driven by vertibrae themselves but I made them look more inorganic, almost industrial. I took photos of my spinal movement to determine the restrictions of the movements and to get some measurements dimensions and This model, as they all do eventually changed. I decided to make the lumbar section of the spine which has five vertibrae.

I then started sketching a different idea where they were held by a cord running down the middle with restrictions being made by exterior parts.
I made a solid works model of this design. However it was a bad idea and while doing it in solid works I saw that it wouldn't wok as the pieces would hit each other so again a did some more sketches some more research and came up with a design that ended up being my final design.
It was only a rough sketch as straight after this I was on solid works making my models.

Project 2
OK, so its getting time to put everything on my blog so here it goes. I decided to focus on the spine for my project because I find its movement interesting and my flexible spine is the body part I'm most proud of. . . well second most proud of. I started as everyone else does by looking on the Internet for precedents which mostly involved looking at spines and reading about vertebrae. I then sketched a few ideas down. Here is one of them.
Not the best sketch but it was mostly about ideas. However at this point I didnt know how vertibrae moved and interacted so all these ideas would have failed.
I started on a solid works model based on the idea of limited ball and socket joints for vertibrae, however after the trip to kelburn where I got a chance to look at a spine I realised my idea was wrong and went back to the drawing board.
